We envision a world where no one suffers the lack of safe drinking water and sanitation facilities.
Khulna and Bagherhat district
The Bangladesh WASH Alliance (BWA) is a proud member of the Dutch WASH Alliance. We envision a world where no one suffers the lack of safe drinking water and sanitation facilities. The focus of our work is therefore to increase access to and use of safe drinking water and sanitation for the poor people living in the Southwestern areas of Bangladesh. By investing in vulnerable people's health, they are enabled to gradually come out of poverty.
Worldwide network
Being a member of the DWA, we were given the unique chance to build a strong worldwide network with relevant organizations and to reveal our work and achievements to the whole world. We work together, share knowledge and technologies with each other, and organize various international and national seminars to make sure stakeholders become more responsive for ensuring safe drinking water and sanitation for poor communities.
WASH in the Saline Coastal Belt
Our next project is a WASH program in the Saline Coastal Belt – the most vulnerable area of Bangladesh as an effect of climate change. Saline water is engulfing in the catchment area because of sea level rising; rivers are drying up due to salifation and lack of water aquifers; and saline water is being used for shrimp cultivation. Currently, we are looking for more resources to expand the project. And at the same time we are doing strong advocacy towards policy makers and relevant departments to formulate unique water regulation for the area to access safe drinking water for all.
